Inger Kolff’s work carries a quiet, contemplative essence. She works intuitively, guided by mood and spontaneity, allowing each decision to shape the next. From form and color, new shapes emerge organically. She does not aim for realistic representation or anatomical precision. Inger does not create preparatory sketches or color palettes for her paintings. The works are predominantly abstract and often large in scale— colorful, but never extravagant. Her drawings are made using the washink drawing technique with Indian ink and water. At times they feature visible lines, at others, only flowing forms defined solely by the sweep of a broad brush. Intentionally placed drops and drips are part of the process. This body of work often evokes associations with Japanese minimalist drawing traditions.
